Briefing no 4: The International Code of Conduct for Private Security Service Providers

This Academy Briefing presents a commentary on the provisions of the International Code of Conduct for Private Security Service Providers. The Code is part of a multi-stakeholder initiative convened by the Swiss Government, involving the companies themselves, civil society, and other states.  The Briefing also cross-references the Articles of Association for the Code’s oversight mechanism which was launched in Geneva on 19–20 September 2013. The Briefing analyses each of the Code’s sections paragraph by paragraph and explains how various provisions relate to existing rules of international humanitarian law and human rights.
